Andy Warhol : Motion Picture exhibit at MoMa

Andy Warhol: Motion Pictures focuses on the artist’s cinematic portraits and non-narrative, silent, and black-and-white films from the mid-1960s. Warhol’s Screen Tests reveal his lifelong fascination with the cult of celebrity, comprising a visual almanac of the 1960s downtown avant-garde scene. Included in the exhibition are such Warhol “Superstars” as Edie Sedgwick, Nico, and Baby Jane Holzer; poet Allen Ginsberg; musician Lou Reed; actor Dennis Hopper; author Susan Sontag; and collector Ethel Scull, among others. Other early films included in the exhibition are Eat (1963) and Kiss (1963–64). Twelve Screen Tests in this exhibition are projected on the gallery walls at large scale and within frames, some measuring seven feet high and nearly nine feet wide, while Kiss is shown at the rear of the gallery in a 50-seat movie theater created for the exhibition. Warhol’s film Empire (1964) will be shown in this theater every other Friday starting January 7, for the duration of the exhibition. Sleep (1963), in its entirety, will be shown in this theater on Wednesday, February 2, and Wednesday, March 2.
This exhibition is organized in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. It was first conceived at The Museum of Modern Art, by Mary Lea Bandy, then Chief Curator, Department of Film and Media, and exhibited in 2003 as Andy Warhol: Screen Tests. With the addition of Warhol’s silent films, the show debuted as Andy Warhol: Motion Pictures at KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, in 2004. Over the past five years Klaus Biesenbach has organized the tour of the exhibition to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Miami, Moscow, and Prague.

Supra black and white pack

Supra recently announced this pack set to be their first of 2011. The “Black & White” pack consists of the Cuttler, Assault and Skytop II model each colored with the same native print. Created from a mix of block and triangular shapes, the black and white uppers are complemented with white soles and flat waxed laces in black. Fans may recall these images from issue 20 of Sneaker Freaker.

BBC/Ice Cream Spring 2011 Collection – First Releases

We present the first drop from the BBC/Ice Cream Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. Included in the release is the Deep Space Varsity Jacket, new sneakers, bags, cushions, a New Era cap, a camouflage riders jacket and hoodie, as well as some more graphic based pieces and accessories. The products will be released at BBC/Ice Cream retailers January 2nd.

visvim Spring/Summer 2011 Preview in GQ Japan

GQ Japan takes a first look at the new visvim Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. Even though one cannot see all too much, we get little previews of new footwear styles, as well as something clothing and accessories. Obviously things are looking good, since visvim is a brand one does never have to doubt. It is more the pricing that we have to wait for to see how good the collection really is. The Chukka mid top sneaker in the front and the suede leather jacket are our obvious choices from the above selection.

Testimony:

For some reason I've always believed in GOD, speaking to him pretty regularly throughout my life, especially when I was in trouble or when I needed something.

For many years I struggled with drugs and alcohol, always taking two steps forward and stumbling back three or four—never being able to succeed in anything, always feeling empty and void.

I found a twelve step program that helped me with my drug abuse. The longer I stayed clean and the more I learned about myself, the more I realized that it is no coincidence that I am still here, alive and not in jail.

One day while attending a twelve step meeting, I heard a speaker who was talking about things that I could relate to. He also spoke about a freedom that we could all experience if we just surrendered to a Higher Power. (Because of the policies of the twelve step program it is suggested not to give your Higher Power a specific name so no one gets offended.)

At that point in my life I was clean from active addiction. But I was making money illegally. I felt that drugs took so much from me that I needed to catch up. Although I was making amounts of money that I had never seen before, I still had a void and always felt lonely. I like to remember sitting in my big house, in front of my big TV feeling miserable.

So when I heard that speaker talking about freedom, I was all ears.

To make a long story short, for the next few months I made sure I put myself in the same places that he would be (after all, I wanted what he had), building a relationship with who I now know as Pastor Raymond Ramos.

At that point in my life because I stopped using drugs and alcohol, I actually thought I was a better person.

Soon to realize that GOD had certain standards. And by trying from my heart and doing my absolute best to live by those standards that I too could live a life beyond my wildest dreams.

So I started to build a relationship with Jesus Christ. I started gradually giving small things up and immediately I started to see positive results. Anything negative that I gave up I was blessed ten times over.

Then finally I made a decision to give up all my old ways and live for Jesus Christ.

Pastor Adam Valenzuela once asked me, “Are you in love with Jesus Christ?” Sincerely, I smiled and answered, “YES.”

I sold my home, opening up a transitional house with my partner John Shinnick for recovering addicts who are trying to make a smooth transition back into society: THE 3SIXTY HOUSE.

I am going to church, reading the Bible, and devoting my life to Jesus Christ.

By turning my life and my will over to GOD, I started to experience life beyond my wildest dreams—BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS!

My relationship with Jesus Christ is so special to me. I wish I could explain it in words, but I just can’t. (It’s the warmest thing.)

The Bible is like an instruction manual on how to live your life, how to treat people, how to treat yourself, how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, and how to prepare for the promise land!

Today I am almost 9 years clean. I have a beautiful wife, Jessica Rivera ; a beautiful daughter, Emily Nicole Lee Rivera; friends; and family that trust and believe in me. And to top it off, I have an amazing relationship with Jesus Christ. I am truly blessed and GRATEFUL, only through God's Grace. What can I say? THANK YOU LORD! 1 TIMOTHY 12–14.

Stefan Janoski Nike sb preview

Stefan Janoski (born July 18, 1979) is a professional skateboarder. His hometown is Vacaville, CA and currently resides in Sacramento, CA. He began skateboarding in 1992 and went professional in 2003. He is known for his 360 flips and his ability to skate switch. Especially his switch kickflips. He is the second person on Nike SB to have a pro model shoe, the Zoom Stefan Janoski. His take on the nike brand has reinvented what a nike skate shoe means. Gone are the days were nike tries to combine skate and fashion elements and in comes the NIKE SB zoom 2011 with is fresh colorways. First up is a white pair whose gum sole brings about a classic springtime look, while a Pacific Blue pair’s black piping makes it seem even brighter. Is Nike SB’s deck shoe inspired Stefan Janoski signature improving with age?
